Svaneti - the most mountainous and isolated region of Georgia, which is also called the " land of a thousand towers ". A travel to Svaneti is an experience for life. Famous towers Machubi were erected during the period from IX to XII century. Solid stone quadrangular structure performed economic and defensive function for centuries. And most mountainous permanently inhabited village in Europe - Ushguli (2100m) and the churches built in X-XIV centuries which are listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the region there are four of the ten highest peaks of the Caucasus mountains, including the higest mountain in Georgia - Shkhara (5201m), that’s why climbers are so fond of Svaneti.
